The purpose of this research project is to evaluate how a new suite of pharmacy intern workplace based assessment tools are being used across diverse pharmacy workplaces. Workplace based assessments (WBA) are structured activities that support workplace learning, provision of feedback and decisions about intern readiness to practice independently.
In 2022, the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) produced an initial suite of workplace-based assessment tools to support pharmacy intern training and assessment. The tools have been introduced into the supervised practice period by Intern Training Programs (ITPs).
This research project is being conducted by researchers from the University of Newcastle, the Australian Pharmacy Council, and Monash University. The research team members are listed below.
This research project is funded by the APC. We are the national accreditation authority for pharmacy education and training working with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
You can participate by joining an online focus group, an online one-on-one interview or by anonymous survey. You will be eligible to enter a prize draw to win one of six $50 eGift cards.
No. Participation in this research study is voluntary. If you do not want to take part, you do not have to. Whether or not you decide to participate, your decision will not disadvantage you in any way and will not affect your relationship with the research team. If you decide to participate and later change your mind, you are free to withdraw at any time.
By participating, your feedback will be used to refine the tools and processes for workplace-based assessment for future interns, contributing to a safe and competent future pharmacy workforce.
