We are seeking a student member to join our Accreditation Committee in 2025. Joining our committee means you will contribute your expertise to assuring the quality of pharmacy education in Australia. It helps us ensure future pharmacists meet the needs of our communities.
Our Accreditation Committee (AC) makes accreditation decisions and monitors accredited pharmacy education programs against our accreditation standards. It looks at pharmacy degree and intern training programs, and pharmacist education programs for registered pharmacists looking to complete additional, specialised training.
The pharmacy student member is an individual who:
- at the time of appointment to the Accreditation Committee, is a pharmacy student enrolled in an APC accredited degree program
- has high level communication skills, and capacity and willingness to engage in discussion and decision making related to the purpose of the AC
- has an awareness and understanding of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme, including the role of the Pharmacy Board of Australia and APC (specific training and support will be provided to the student member)
- can contribute to the discussion and decision making from the perspective of students, acknowledging the diversity of views and experiences
- has availability to attend meetings and review meeting papers
- AC meets up to 6 times per year (mix of face to face and virtual)
- Paper review time will vary but it would be estimated at least 4 hours per meeting
- will allow time to undertake training and induction about the role of the AC
- has the ability to understand, identify and manage any actual or perceived conflicts of interest (with support from the APC conflict of interest management processes).
Some important additional notes about eligibility for this role:
- You must live in Australia to apply.
- During the 3-year term, the successful candidate may progress from student status to intern (provisional registration) to general registration (when they can offer the perspective of an early career pharmacist).
- As the role on the AC is to represent the pharmacy student voice, no more than half of the 3-year term can be after you have completed your degree and intern training program.
All interested and qualified individuals are invited to apply.
Committee positions are remunerated on a per meeting basis and includes preparation time. APC arranges and funds travel for face-to-face meetings.
Applications close: Monday 24th March
