Professor Sarah Roberts-Thomson - Chair

B.Pharm (Hons), PhD, FPS, GAICD, GCELead, PFHEA 

Sarah Roberts-Thomson is APC Chair. She was appointed as Chair in March 2024 after joining in February 2018, and elected Deputy Chair in June 2020. She contributes her experience in leading large interprofessional educational initiatives to the APC Board.

Sarah is Deputy Executive Dean Academic at The University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Sarah's career spans more than 30 years as a pharmacist. She has experience in:

• clinical pharmacy
• leadership
• mentoring
• tertiary education

Sarah served for 7 years on the Pharmacists Board of Queensland. She is also a director for UQ Health Care and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the United Kingdom.

Sarah's special interest is bringing interprofessional education and practice into a sustainable and effective healthcare system.

Professor Kirstie Galbraith - Deputy Chair

BPharm, MClinPharm, AdvPracPharm, GAICD

Kirstie Galbraith was appointed as Deputy Chair in March 2024, after joining APC Board in June 2021 as a pharmacy academic Director. Kirstie contributes her expertise in Practitioner Development.

Kirstie is Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Education, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University. 

Kirstie has been awarded a Fellowship by both the Society of Hospital Pharmacists Australia (SHPA), and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). She was awarded the SHPA Medal of Merit in recognition of her leadership and contribution to the pharmacy profession nationally and internationally.

Associate Professor Sue Kirsa - Director

BPharm, GradDipHospPharm, FSHP, MAICD

Sue is the immediate past Chair. She held position as Chair from February 2018 to March 2024.

Sue is the Director of Pharmacy at Monash Health. Before that, she was Director of Pharmacy at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre for 10 years. Sue has experience in:

• clinical and operational pharmacy
• clinical governance

As an industry advocate, Sue has led the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia. Her dedication is shown through many appointments to professional, industry and government committees.

Sue's main areas of interest in pharmacy are:

• oncology
• quality use of medicines
• patient safety
• antimicrobial stewardship

Mr Abbas Alibhai - Director

CA, GAICD

Abbas joined the APC Board in June 2021. As a community Director he contributes an important non-pharmacy, consumer perspective.

Abbas is a qualified Chartered Accountant with experience in the UK and Australia.

Abbas is currently the Executive Director of Finance at NSW Health, Illawarra.

Professor Rhonda Clifford - Director

BPharm, GradDipHospPharm, PhD, FPS, SFHEA

Rhonda Clifford joined the APC Board in 2017. She uses her academic experience to work with the Accreditation Committee. She is currently the Deputy Chair of the Accreditation Committee.

Rhonda is the Dean, School of Allied Health at The University of Western Australia (UWA). She has also been the Director of Pharmacy in the School of Medicine and Pharmacology, and curriculum coordinator of Pharmacy Practice in UWA’s Master of Pharmacy.

Rhonda has worked on more than 40 research projects in excellence in pharmacy education and pharmacy practice. She is an active research supervisor for a range of projects. Rhonda focuses on translational research and publishes her work extensively.

Rhonda is member of the LIPPE Network Steering Committee, and APC's IPE Colloquium Program Committee.

Ms Amanda Galbraith - Director

BPharm, GradCertPharmMgt, GradCertDiabEd&Mgt, CDE, GAICD, EMBA

Amanda Galbraith has served on the APC Board since 2017.

Amanda is a registered community pharmacist and a diabetes educator. She has owned a pharmacy business in the past.

She is currently Senior Director at ACT Health, as Acting Chief Pharmacist. She has held national and state leadership roles in The Pharmacy Guild. She has also worked as a supervisor and assessor with the ACT Pharmacy Board.

As a preceptor and a pharmacy owner, Amanda has experience in training and mentoring many pharmacy interns. She also contributes strategic and governance experience to the APC Board.

Emeritus Professor Nicholas Glasgow - Director

BHB, MBChB(Auckland), GradDipFamMed(Monash), GradCertEdStudies(Sydney), MD(Auckland), FRNZCGP(Dist), FRACGP, FAChPM, MD(Honoris Causa, International Medical University)

Nicholas Glasgow was appointed to the APC Board in 2017. 

Nicholas works at the Australian National University (ANU), where he was Acting Head of the Department of Health Services Research and Policy until 2018. He is the former Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Medical School.

Nicholas first worked as a general practitioner in Auckland. He took a position for 4 years in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of the United Arab Emirates. Returning to Australia, he then was Associate Professor of General Practice at the University of Sydney’s Canberra Clinical School.

In the community, Nicholas served as a leader for Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand Inc. Over the past 10 years, he has contributed to many Australian Government health-related committees.

Nicholas's research interests include:

• asthma and respiratory health
• chronic disease care
• end-of-life care
• health system and workforce research
• pedagogy

Associate Professor Faye McMillan AM - Director

BPharm, MIndigHlth, DHSc, GradCertIndigGov

Faye McMillan is a Wiradjuri yinaa (woman). Appointed to APC's Board in December 2019, Faye is our first Indigenous Director and is a member of our Indigenous Health Strategy Group.

Faye is Australia's first registered pharmacist who is Aboriginal. She is the Deputy National Rural Health Commissioner – Allied Health and Indigenous Health where she plays a vital role in the Federal Government's agenda to increase access to rural health services. She is also a Professor of Indigenous Health at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). 

A founding member of Indigenous Allied Health Australia, Faye was recently appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia in recognition of her significant service to Indigenous mental health and to tertiary education.

Faye was awarded the 2023 Harkness Fellow at The Commonwealth Fund, named PSA's Pharmacist of the Year in 2022, the NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year in 2019, and is a Senior Atlantic Fellow for Social Equity. 

Faye's main research interests are:

• Indigenous women in leadership roles
• mental health
• nation building

Faye uses her lived experience to share the hope that education can provide.

Mrs Helen Spiteri

BOccThy, MScMed(PainMgt)

Helen Spiteri joined the APC Board in June 2021 as a community Director. She contributes her experience as a clinician working across developing countries, and rural and remote communities, with:

• refugee populations and in rehabilitation of military veterans
• the British Ministry of Defence
• the Australian Defence Force

Helen is an Occupational Therapist with over 15 years’ experience specialising in Chronic Pain Management and Mental Health.

Helen currently works as a clinical Pain Management consultant. She brings with her considerable experience in training and mentoring undergraduate and post graduate students and junior clinical staff, as well as delivering interdisciplinary education.

Helen was a Consumer Representative for the APC Advanced Practice Credentialling Committee and is invested in representing the consumer voice within the pharmacy community and wider community groups.

Aleena Williams

BPharmSci, MPharm, Grad Cert PharmPrac

Aleena is a Yugambeh woman from South-East Queensland. She is a registered pharmacist with a background in rural and remote pharmacy practice. Aleena brings a lived experience of working as a pharmacist while maintaining connections to community and country.

Aleena has provided guidance throughout APC's Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan journey.

Aleena also sits on the APC Board of Directors.
