The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) is delighted to announce that nominations and applications are now open for the APC Dr Erica Sainsbury Awards, 2025 for their third year running. The awards have been established to recognise and reward leaders in pharmacy education and practice who have demonstrated a commitment to investing in the pharmacists of the future.
The awards honour the legacy of Dr Erica Sainsbury, who dedicated more than 30 years to pharmacy education at the University of Sydney. A passionate academic and collaborator, Dr Sainsbury played a pivotal role in the development of APC’s accreditation standards, intern assessment tools, and research supporting Indigenous health outcomes. She passed away in December 2021, leaving an indelible mark on the profession.
The awards include:
APC Dr Erica Sainsbury Early Career Pharmacy Educator Award, which recognises and rewards an individual who demonstrates innovation and passion in teaching and who places students first and foremost.
APC Dr Erica Sainsbury Pharmacist Supervisor Award, which recognises and rewards pharmacists who display the attributes and skills considered invaluable in the training of pharmacy interns during the period of supervised practice. This award is open by nomination only.
“Each year, we’re inspired by the stories of leadership and commitment shared through these awards. We encourage pharmacy interns to nominate the supervisors who have gone above and beyond, and early career educators to put themselves forward for recognition of their contributions to pharmacy education,” Ms Clark said.
