The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) is pleased to announce the consultation approach for the Pharmacist Capability Framework, which will be undertaken on behalf of the Pharmacy Board of Australia (the Board).
The Framework, announced by the Board in late 2024, will describe the capabilities of a newly registered pharmacist who is adaptable to future practice change. It will be used by APC for accreditation purposes, and by the Pharmacy Board for its regulatory functions including registering pharmacists.
The consultation approach and timelines are now available on the website and will be regularly updated as the project progresses.
This project is supported by a Governance Group to ensure the process remains transparent, consistent, inclusive, and effective.
APC recently concluded an Expression of Interest process for membership for the project Reference Group and is pleased to announce its full membership. This group will provide insights and contribute to the development of the Pharmacist Capability Framework, bringing together representatives from a diverse range of professional organisations and individuals with expertise relevant to the project’s deliverables.
Chief Executive Officer Bronwyn Clark says the APC appreciates the opportunity to collaborate and consult with a respected and knowledgeable range of stakeholders on this project.
"Their valuable and diverse insights will play a crucial role in shaping the framework to ensure that pharmacists capabilities align with current and future pharmacists' roles and needs of the Australian community," Ms Clark stated.
